Sarah & Dan had a simple church ceremony followed by a delightfully casual backyard reception.  The food was incredible and the atmosphere was full of love and family. Also, how awesome are Sarah’s flipflops?

Julie and Will are so lovely together, they just radiate kindness and love. They had a very playful and genuine ceremony followed by a beautiful reception complete with madlibs and tables of family and friends bursting into song.

Congratulations to Melissa and Max for winning my wedding photography contest!  I got such an amazing vibe from them and their environmentally friendly plans make me so happy.  Here is what their wedding is all about:

  • We are going to do everything outside in a huge meadow we have on our property, and the goal is to have it look a little like people have stumbled upon a fairy land in the woods, lots of candles and lights hanging in the trees, maybe Swiss Family Robinson lives there type of setting
  • The main focus of the outdoor school where we work is sustainability and so we are planning on incorporating that theme as much as possible
  • The facility is built green (straw bale insulation, solar panels, radiant floor heating, wheat walls, newspaper insulation, fly ash, adobe, awesomeness)
  • We are getting our food from the farmers market (mainly vegetarian dishes at this point)
  • We’re growing the flowers in our organic teaching garden
  • The place cards, center pieces and cake stands will all be made from wood we have around camp
  • My dress is vintage from the 50′s
  • The beer and wine will all be local
  • The favors are reusable bags
  • We have wild turkeys and deer all over the place (and owls at night) and we also have 4 pet chickens (they may be the flower girl)
  • We’re registering for a honeymoon instead of more stuff
  • There is a good chance we’ll be barefoot (that’s not necessarily sustainable, but Max thought I should add it to the list)”

I couldn’t be more excited!!!  *swoons

Thanks so much to everyone that entered.  This choice was so difficult and overwhelming due to the amazing entries I received.

Cheers,

Kyra & Tim got married on a very warm but completely beautiful Friday evening at Salvage One.   Their love and compatibility were evident in every detail, from the moment they set eyes on each other (and Kyra breathed a huge sigh of relief) to the incredibly beautiful and personal vows and wonderfully unique readings (“An Epithalamion” by Tony Kushner and “variation on the word sleep” by Margaret Atwood).  Both teachers, the couple arranged for the reception to have a rather literary vibe to it.  Each dinner table was decorated and named with a different book and guests were directed to tables called “Crime & Punishment” or”Shakespearian Production.”

I’ve been looking forward to this wedding ever since I met Alisha and Neill and even more so after their engagement shoot.  The day was amazing, and we managed to avoid the storms and the heat!  We started at the Allerton Hotel, proceeded to Promontory Point, a small firehouse (with lovely and accommodating men-folk) and finally made our way to Volo in Roscoe Village.  Part of me is sad it’s over now, but luckily (!) I can console myself with these….
